Anything is possible. It really is. No really it is. Do you think two hundred years ago anyone would have believed you if you told them it was possible for a person to walk on the moon? Or that you could speak to someone on the other side of the world in real time?
These things that we now take for granted would have been considered magic. They all happened because someone, or rather several people, dreamed it. They wanted it to be possible and they took action to make it happen.
What if you were to apply this to your own life. What if it were possible for you to:
• Feel twice as happy
• Earn three times as much money and work fewer hours
• Transform the sector in which you work for the better
• Live in your dream house
• Feel twice as connected to everyone in your life
Us Brits are modest, self-deprecating people. We’re sceptical of hype. Our humility and preference for grounded authenticity are wonderful qualities.
But if you wake up most mornings feeling stressed, anxious or dreading the day ahead, which a lot off people do, it might be time to have higher expectations for the kind of life that’s possible for you.
The practice of mindfulness helps us to reflect on what really matters to us, what kind of person we want to be and how we want to feel. Living life purposefully rather than sleep-walking through it on auto-pilot. Paying attention to whether the things we’re doing are nourishing or depleting.
A great format for deciding what you really want in your life is writing a list of things you want to be, have and do.
Once you’ve done that, choose you one top priority and take small steps every day towards it.
Since I realised my priority was getting more clients and increasing my income, I doubled both in two months. That means I’m doing more of what I love, helping more people, paying off debt and being more generous with my money.
If you expect little for yourself and your life, you will achieve little. If you expect big things and push yourself, you will start to attract people who think in a similar way, you’ll find books and articles that support your thinking and inspire you, and your action and beliefs will inspire other people.
I believe the key things that stops us making progress in an area of our life that’s we’re not satisfied with, is being unwilling to face up to it, take responsibility for it and to take consistent action towards it. It means confronting discomfort. Again and again.
You don’t need to be struggling for money, You don’t need to be tired, stressed and anxious all the time. You don’t need to do a job you can just about tolerate. You can live a life you love.
Think big, set higher standards for yourself and once you start taking consistent action towards it, you’ll realise how exciting life is meant to be.
